We are Erin and Libby and its so nice to meet you!

Libby is the van’s name, by the way…

When I first bought the van in March of this year with the plan of converting it into a camper and living out of it for a year while working as a travel nurse, the whole idea just struck me as ultimate freedom. Libby is short for “Libertad”, which means “freedom” in Spanish, and was actually the name of a woman I met while in the Peace Corps in Bolivia in my early-mid 20s. My time living in South America, the Spanish language, and Bolivian culture denote a pretty important chapter and piece of my life, and I thought it would be nice to incorporate it into this new venture.

I have given some thought to starting a blog the past couple of years.  I have always admired people who can express their thoughts and feelings in an articulate fashion on paper, be they friends, strangers, or many of my favorite authors.  I enjoy writing and thought I might take this opportunity to share my thoughts on what my life is like as a travel nurse and van dweller; additionally, I started opening up emotionally a bit with people about a year ago (after many years of not doing that) and felt like I wanted to continue to do that. Soooo…here I am with this weird new life and this blog!

Two disclaimers:

  1. Please consider this to be generally not child friendly writing. I swear a lot, and I kind of enjoy swearing, and I’m not going to stop. Also, there will likely be some gross/sad nursey stuff. Lastly, it may get a little personal from time to time. So, the under 18 crowd is discouraged. Thanks.

  2. Like I said, it may get a little personal from time to time. I’m not sure how personal and what kind of personal, and I promise to change/omit names to protect the innocent ;) But…I decided a few months ago that I wanted to live my life with my heart wide open, and I want my writing to reflect that. I’ll try my best to indicate at the top of an entry if it might be objectionable to certain audiences (like my dad, for instance. Sorry, Dad.)

Thanks for reading! Enjoy!
